  • Try to avoid passwords that are real words or obvious choices, such as family names, birthdays or telephone numbers.
  • Avoid using the same password for multiple applications or Internet services.
  • If your usernames or passwords automatically appear in the Log on  page of a secure Web site, you should disable the auto complete function in your browser.

Protect your password. Memorize it, do not write it down, change it frequently and do not reveal it to anyone.

Pop Ups Are Not Generated by Caribbean Credit Card Corporation

Caribbean Credit Card Corporation Ltd. does not permit third party advertising on any of our web sites. Pop-up advertising on your computer is not the result of Caribbean Credit Card Corporation.

This form of advertising is often triggered by software on your computer that may have been installed, with or without your knowledge, as part of a "free" software package or as a result of a virus attack.

Another reason why advertising may be displayed on your computer is as a result of a previous browsing session at other sites that you visited that launched pop-up windows in the background. It is a coincidence that they appeared while you were visiting the Caribbean Credit Card Corporation site.

If you suspect you may have undesired Pop-up software or viruses installed on your computer, use Virus Detection software or SpyWare Detection software to remove the undesired Pop ups. If possible, refrain from using the site if you suspect a viral infection as unintended capture of passwords may have occurred. After the problem is rectified, change your password.

Beware of Brand Spoofing Emails

Be cautious of “Brand Spoofing” e-mails and web sites coming from parties pretending to be real companies that request personal or financial information. Customers are led to believe the request is from a real company when in fact it is a malicious attempt to collect customer information for the purpose of committing fraud.

Typically, this is what happens:

  • Customers receive an unsolicited email appearing to be from a legitimate company.
  • The e-mail claims that a billing error or account problem has occurred or that the customer can enter a contest to win a prize. Other prizes or offers may be used.
  • Customers are asked to follow instructions that will take them to a Web site that appears legitimate, complete with a company’s brand name, logos and colours.
  • Customers are asked to provide updated personal and financial information by completing an online form. The form requests a variety of information such as credit card numbers, account numbers, passwords, date of birth, drivers license number, and government issued identification numbers.
  • There may be a threat associated with the request. For example, customers are asked to submit the information or risk having their account suspended or terminated.
  • You may receive an email that appears to be from a friend just asking you to provide acquaintance's names, addresses and birthday information by clicking a link. Only reply to your friend by email, never click a link as recently email address book thefts have been used and clicking on the link and entering personal details assists identity thieves build their information database.

Tips to help you identify and respond to potential “Brand Spoofing” e-mails or web sites

  1. Never provide sensitive personal or financial information such as a credit card number, account number, driver’s license number, or social insurance or social security number in response to an e-mail.
  2. Look for misspelled words either in the message or in the hyperlink if one is provided. “Brand Spoofing” scams often contain misspelled words.
  3. If the e-mail requests that you click a link provided in the message, check the address to help determine if it is legitimate. Sometimes, the link does not resemble the company’s actual name at all. At other times, it is very similar but may still appear suspicious.
  4. If a link is provided in the message, do not click it because it may take you to a fraudulent Web site. Instead, type the company’s Web address in the address bar of your browser. If you don’t know the address, use a search engine and search for the company’s name to help you locate it. Once on the site, search for any information, bulletins or notices that convey the same message provided in the e-mail you received.
